Ludhiana, May 22, 2013: Activists of the Forum of BSNL Executives and Non-Executives Unions/Associations comprising of BSNL Employees Union, Sanchar Nigam Executives Association and National Federation of Telecom BSNL Employees and SC/ST Welfare Association of BSNL held a massive lunch hours demonstration on the call its central headquarters demanding merger of 78.2 IDA in the basic pay.
Addressing the gathering, Balbir Singh, Circle Secretary, BSNL Employees Union and S.P Singh , Circle Secretary National Federation of Telecom BSNL Employees said the pay scale of BSNL employees have been revised since January 1, 2007, but the remaining IDA has not been merged with the basic pay. The BSNL Management signed an agreement with Forum leaders in the month of June 2012 and accordingly Board of Directors approved the same long time back. Approval of the BSNL Board was conveyed to the Department of Telecommunication. The DOT is delaying the just demand of the employees and creating unnecessary hurdles in settling the issue. Now the Forum has decided to organise indefinite strike in BSNL from June 12 to get the justice
Addressing the gathering, Balwinder Singh, District Secretary, BSNL Employees Union and Pritam Chand said that the forum of Unions and association will organise daylong dharna on June 5 infront of the GMT office. They also assured that the strike in BSNL Ludhiana will be complete. They called upon the workers to gear up for the coming agitation.
