Chandigarh, May 2, 2013: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed Executive Officer Kapurthala red handed accepting bribe Rs. 50,000. Disclosing this here today, Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that the Vigilance Bureau caught Parkash Singh Sandhu EO Kapurthala demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant Joginder Singh of SAS Nagar Mohali for passing map to construct house at his plot. He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that EO Kapurthala was demanding bribe of Rs. 50,000 for the above said motive.
After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by Nirmaljit Singh DSP Vigilance Kapurthala laid a trap and the accused were nabbed red handed in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from him. In this regard a vigilance case under u/s 7, 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
