Ludhiana, April 1, 2013: Rahul Tiwari Deputy Commissioner has directed all the SDMs and heads of all the procurement agencies to complete all the arrangements for the smooth and hassle free procurement of wheat in coming procurement season starting from April 1 in all Mandis in district, so that no farmer faces any problem to sell his produce.
Deputy Commissioner was presiding over a meeting of concerned Officers to review the arrangement of wheat procurement at Bachat Bhawan here on Monday.
Tiwari said that 102 purchase centers have been set up in Ludhiana district. He directed all the agencies to depute the required staff in all mandis of district at the earliest. He asked the SDMs to personally visit the Mandis in their area and give final touches to the arrangements. He also asked SDMs to depute a Gazetted Officer for every Mandi and these Officers will check the mandis daily.
Tiwari asked the DMO and Secretaries of all Market Committees to ensure the proper cleanliness in mandis, set up washrooms, make arrangement of drinking water, electricity and stand by arrangements of generator for power cleaners. He told the DMO to make final checking of power cleaners and tarpaulins with the Ahrtyas in all Mandis.
Deputy Commissioner asked the DMO and representatives of Ahrtiyas association to educate the farmers to harvest their crop only on proper maturity and bring dry and clean crop in the mandis, so that they do not face any problem in selling their crop. He also appealed to the farmers to restrain from harvesting the immature wheat and not to operate harvest combine in night in the field.
