Chandigarh, March 1, 2013: The Sidhwan Branch canal would remain close till March 10, for early completion of the Southern Bypass on Sidhwan Branch.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Irrigation Department said that notification in this regard under rule 63 of rules framed under the Northern India Canal and Drainage Act, 1873 (Act VIII of 1873) has been issued. He said that this decision to close canal for shorter span has been taken keeping in view the congenial weather condition and having due regard to the status of crops.
