Polling parties getting despatched to their respective polling booths for conducting elections to zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections across the Ludhiana district.

Ludhiana, May 18, 2013: Polling parties and security personnel have been despatched to their respective polling booths for conducting elections to zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections across the district on May 19.
According to District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari, a total 1436 polling booths have been set up for the purpose.
The district has been divided into 25 zones for the zila parishad elections. A total 50 candidates are in the fray.
A total 226 zones have been set up for 12 panchayat samitis. A total 444 candidates are in the fray for these polls.
10,64,770 electorates will use their right of franchise in these elections.
Tight security arrangements and patrolling has been ensured in the poll related villages till counting of votes. The purpose is to ensure peaceful conduct of elections.
Polling will begin at 8 am on May 19. It will continue till 4 pm.
Counting of votes will take place at 8 am on May 21.
