Ludhiana, May 13, 2013: Ramesh Rattan, secretary, Aarti Chowk Shopkeepers Association, Ferozepur road Ludhiana, has said the owners of small shops on Ferozepur road are facing a very peculiar situation from last 3-4 weeks.
In a statement here on Monday, he added, “We are absolutely prohibited by the authorities in Municipal corporation, Ludhiana (MCL) and police to park our vehicles in the parking area developed by the MCL for this purpose in front of our shops. The police are challaning us while we make loading or unloading from our shops, though no hurdle to traffic is caused. Our customers got their vehicle punctured when visiting our shops. Our businesses are getting ruined.”
He revealed that they are holding a bandh of the market on May 14 and protest meeting against these “atrocious” actions will be held at Aarti Chowk at 10-30 am. Then all the shop keepers will go to the Deputy Commissioner office at 11-30 am to present him their memorandum of demand.
