Chandigarh, April 25, 2013:Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab today asked Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh to work out a transparent tendering process so that quality and timeline of the project was not compromised.
In a high level meeting to review the progress of infrastructure projects, Badal said that Punjab Government is giving a highest priority to infrastructure sector and he would not allow the fly by night infrastructure operators to derail ambitious projects of the state. He asked Chief Secretary to work out a most transparent e-tendering process including pre-bidding to sift out such non serious elements.
Focusing on maintaining strict quality control on infrastructure projects, Badal asked Chief Secretary to ensure third party audit of infrastructure projects so that independent audit of quality assurance was conducted by an international agency.
Emphasising on proper maintenance of infrastructure projects after their completion, Badal also asked CS to ensure annual maintenance contract of all infrastructure projects and the project construction company should be asked to maintain that project for five years after its completion.
Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary Industries Karan Avtar Singh, Finance Secretary D.P. Reddy and Special Principal Secretary to Deputy CM Ajay Mahajan.
