Jalandhar, April 7, 2013: Kala Sanghia drain passing from Jalandhar needs immediate attention of the administration for de-silting of slush and cleaning of the drain for smooth flow of water.
During a visit along the drain, it was observed that the drain gives a very ugly look. The hard fact is that the drain is meant for carrying the rain water during the Monsoon season but in the presently it is seen full of garbage and waste of residential and industrial areas.
The polluted water in the drain is also polluting underground water in the surroundings. The whole environment around it looks polluted. Besides, it has become a nursery of mosquitoes.
BJP senior leader Vipan Sharma has demanded that the concerned authorities should allocate funds for immediate cleaning of this drain in the larger interest if people and the environment as well.
Another resident, Deepak Jalota said the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab Irrigation Minister Janmeja Singh Shekhon, Punjab Local Bodies Minister Bhagat Chuni Lal and Mayor Sunil Jyoti should take appropriate steps in this regard.
