Firemen trying to control fire that broke out in a chemical factory at Ludhiana on Saturday.
Ludhiana, April 6, 2013: Four persons were injured when a sudden fire broke out in a chemical factory in the Beantpura locality, near Samrala Chowk, here on Saturday.
The exact cause of the fire is not known.
More than a half dozen fire tenders were called to extinguish the fire.
The firemen had to make a lot of efforts to control the fire as the chemical factory was located in a very congested lane.
The nearby residents heard a huge noise after the fire broke out in the factory.
The entire mohalla was got evacuated as a mark of protection during the operation to control the fire.
The injured persons have been admitted to a private hospital. The condition of two persons is stated to be critical.
The injured persons have been identified as Raja Mandal (38) of Puneet Nagar, Santosh (33) of Puneet Nagar, Vishwanath ( 43) of Janakpuri and Raj Kumar (32) of Beantpura.
Police Division 7 have registered a case against the factory owner Praveen Aggarwal under Sections 337, 338, 427 and 285 of the IPC.
Police are making efforts to arrest the accused.
Police are also verifying whether or not the factory owner possesses a licence for storing chemicals.
A team of forensic experts has also been employed to ascertain the reason behind the fire. It has also been assigned the task to fix the responsibility of the incident.
Police officers who visited the spot, included the ADCP (city-4) NK Sharma, ACP Dhruman Nimbale, ACP Ramneesh Choudhary and ACP Jaswinder Singh.
