Ludhiana, November 22, 2014: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has planned to increase the sub Transmission Capacity of the state during current fiscal (2014-15) to facilitate smooth evacuation of additional power to be generated. This shall ensure uninterrupted quality power to the consumers during the coming summer season. Er.K.D.Chaudhry, CMD, PSPCL while performing the Bhoomi Poojan Ceremony of first Gas Insulated Sub-station at Chaura Bazar Ludhiana told that PSPCL had taken up the work of de-loading the existing 66 KV Sub Stations of the PSPCL beyond the limit of 70 per cent upto May, 2015. An expenditure to the tune of Rs.300 crore shall be spent for this purpose.
He further said there is problem of overloading and low voltage around the area of Chaura Bazar Ludhiana. Space constraint is also being faced to set up conventional sub-station in the area for improving the supply system. Therefore, PSPCL has decided to set up an advanced technology based 66 KV Gas Insulated Sub-Station at Chaura Bazar Ludhiana. This project shall be completed in the coming six months at a cost of about Rs.10 crore. It is the first project of this kind in the state and shall usher in a new era of technological advancement. This shall ensure quality power supply to the commercial establishments and general consumers of this area.
He further told that during previous fiscal (2013-14), 41 new 66 KV Sub-Stations have been commissioned besides enhancing capacity of another 100 existing sub-stations. He said 12 sub-stations (33 KV) were up-graded to 66 KV during last year. Even during 2014-15, 14 new 66 KV sub-stations have been commissioned and capacity of 81 existing sub-stations has been augmented. Another 13 sub-stations (33 KV) have been upgraded to 66 KV. He added PSPCL has decided to up-grade all the remaining 16 sub-stations (33 KV) so as to eliminate this time old 33 KV system.
