Ludhiana, November 20, 2014: A 46- years old female who had conceived after a great difficulty on 23rd March, 2014 came to Dayanand Medical College & Hospital on 10th August, 2014 at 5 months of gestation period where there was leakage of amniotic fluid. Along with that she also developed high blood pressure which required medications and close intensive monitoring which was continued for three months.

Dr Suman Puri (Professor & Head  of Obstetrics & Gynaecology) who was looking after that patient said that the patient remained  admitted for nearly three months in DMCH because of the precious pregnancy, the risk of infection and developing further complication and a very high risk involved of pre term delivery. The presence of an excellent infrastructure and very good monitoring facilities in the Antenatal/Labour Room ward of DMCH led to the successful prolongation of pregnancy for three months.

Ultimately a caesarean section was done because of impending eclampsia and the patient delivered twins. A male and female baby weighing 1320 grams and 1520 grams were placed in a well equipped Neonatology Unit to gain maturity and the mother and babies were discharged in a healthy condition on 5th November, 2014.
