Chandigarh, October 25, 2014: The MP Chandigarh and actress Kirron Kher today inaugurated the first woman branch of Bank of Baroda making it 22nd branch in Chandigarh at sector 40 branch today
Talking to the gathering at event MP Kher said that banks are playing pivotal role in partnering with government on schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana that is aimed at financial inclusion of each and every household. She exhorted the Bank of Baroda for giving its services throughout the country with complete efficiency and transparency.
Deputy General Manager of Chandigarh Region, S B Prasad and Deputy Regional Manager VP Sirivastva welcomed MP Kirron Kher. Branch head of new branch sector 40 Bhawna Kumar said that under the Jan Dhan Yojana the new branch has already opened 1000 bank accounts. She added that it was the first woman branch of the Chandigarh wherein the women and senior citizens would be given special care and support for banking.
She added that the new branch at sector 40 D has opened 1700 accounts and mobilized business of Rs 1 crore, under. On this occasion all the branch heads of tricity and other people were present.
Sector 40-D branch is the twenty-second branch in the tri-city. Further Chandigarh Region is opening five more branches in tricity before January 15, 2015, at sector 30, Sector 37, Khuda Lahora, Mansa Devi complex, Manimajra and Sector 20, Panchkula.
Bank of Baroda is India's international bank, having 4954 branches in India, and 103 branches abroad. Chandigarh Region has more than Rs 5300 crore business and having 90 branches in the region.
