Pramod Ban, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana on Saturday at the site where two proclaimed offenders were  killed in an alleged “police encounter” in Jamalpur area in Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, September 27, 2014: Two youths allegedly wanted in a case registered under Sections 302 and 307 IPC at Police Station Macchiwara were killed in alleged “police encounter” by a police party from Khanna Police District in Ahluwalia Colony here this morning. Two of their accomplices were arrested and still, another managed to flee from the spot. These youths were staying as paying guests in a house in the residential colony.
The youths killed in alleged “police encounter” have been identified as Harinder Singh and Jatinder Singh. Both the deceased were residents of a village near Samrala.
Police are keeping the identity secret of the two arrested and one escaped. The police party had arrived from Macchiwara police station.
The incident has raised a big question as the Khanna Police did not give any prior information of the raid to local police. Pramod Ban, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana who visited the spot to have first hand information of the occurrence told the media persons that Ludhiana Police was not given any prior information about the raid to be conducted by the Khanna police district. He termed the incident as “police encounter”. He said they were getting all the related details.
When the police party attempted to arrest the accused from the house, the youths allegedly open fire on the police party. As a result, the police also resorted to open fire in return, in which two youths were killed, two arrested and one escaped.
