“Swachh Bharat Week” starts in Ludhiana

Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Ripu Daman Sharma on Thursday launches Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious project- “Swachh Bharat Week” from Chander Nagar Bridge in Ward Number 31.

 

Ludhiana, September 25, 2014: Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Ripu Daman Sharma today launched Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious project- “Swachh Bharat Week” from Chander Nagar Bridge in Ward Number 31, here today. Sharma was accompanied by area councillor Narinder Singh Malhi and senior Ludhiana MC officers.

As part of “Swachh Bharat Week”, Sharma along with senior MC officers sweep the roads in Chander Nagar. While addressing the gathering present there, Sharma said that our society and nation can prosper only if we maintain and clean environment around us.

He said that it is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi';s vision that people should not only cleanse their minds but also the environment around us. He said that the “Swachh Bharat Week” would end on October 2, the launch date of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan".
 "The programme is expected to continue till the culmination of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019. The programme is aimed at creating a clean India by 2019 with people';s participation," said Ripu Daman Sharma.

This “Swachh Bharat Week” in the district has been launched on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal.

Prominent among those present during the launch of “Swachh Bharat Week” included area councillor Narinder Singh Malhi, MC Joint Commissioners P S Ghuman and A S Sekhon, besides several others.
