Vigilance Bureau Punjab nabs doctor of forensic department in graft case

Chandigarh, August 5, 2014: The Vigilance Bureau (VB), Punjab today nabbed a doctor of forensic department red-handed, while accepting second installment of bribe Rs.5,000.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the VB said that Narinder Singh of Sandhu Colony, Khooh Khudian Wala (Amritsar) lodged complaint that he has admitted his son in Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar after being injured in a scuffle. He alleged that the report of the injury was pending with Forensic Department of the hospital and the Dr. Gurseerat Singh was demanding Rs.10,000 for releasing the report. He alleged although he paid Rs.10,000 to the doctor as bribe, but the doctor refused to issue the report and demanded Rs.5,000 more for this purpose.

Acting on the tip off, the team of Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar Range, led by DSP Manjit Singh laid trap and caught Dr. Gurseerat Singh red-handed, while accepting bribe money of Rs.5,000 from the complainant.

A case under section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered against the doctor in the Vigilance Police Station, Amritsar Range.
