Khanna OST Centre gives second life to drug addict woman

Ludhiana, June 28, 2014: Habit that may be considered as impossible but if a person commits get rid of it than he/she could make impossible as possible by sincere efforts and dedication despite of non removable obstacles. Such is the case of Balbir Kaur (not real name) who was deeply rooted to drug addiction but she has got relief from this evil and now living a healthy life.
Removing a Curtain from this success story Dr.S.S Dhir, In-charge, OST (Opium Substitute Therapy) Centre, Khanna said that Balvir Kaur went into mental depression after the death of her son and husband. She used to get unconscious during day and night due to regular fits. Doctors started giving her drug injections to keep her fit but due to this she got drug addict and started purchasing injections at her own and injecting them. But when she failed to get drug injections she started taking poppy husk and other drugs. This continued for more than three years and her health started deteriorating.  
Dr. Dhir said that Balvir Kaur came to OST Khanna and after his personal persuasion she agreed to take treatment from this centre. He said that Balvir kaur showed such a commitment to get rid of evil of drugs that now she do not even like to hear the name of any kind of drug. He said that Balvir kaur is being minor medicines these days that would be stopped soon.
Dr. Dhir further said that this centre was opened just six months ago and about 117 Drug addicts are being treated in this centre at present which is being run under the control of Punjab State Aids Control Society.  He has also appealed to the people to take benefit from the imitative of the Punjab Government to get rid of drugs by getting treatment from such centres and make Punjab Healthy and Wealthy.
