The tiny tots of Ordnance Army Pre Primary School and the Guides and Scouts of KV Suranussi took on themselves the responsibility to clean up the surrounding areas of Suranussi on Tuesday.
Jalandhar, February 19, 2013: In an unprecedented move the tiny tots of Ordnance Army Pre Primary School and the Guides and Scouts of KV Suranussi took on themselves the responsibility to clean up the surrounding areas of Suranussi. A concerted effort for the same was carried out on Tuesday with the support of the local Army Unit 223 ABOD.
The drive started with a very enthusiastic group of children, holding well planned and hard hitting banners narrating about ill effects of plastics and littering in Maqsudan. The goal of ‘Clean Up Maqsudan’ was to ensure cleanliness and provide better environment with special emphasis anti-polythene drive.
It was a treat to watch the small children in colourful dresses, holding placards and appealing to the residents to ensure correct disposal of garbage and convert the area into a No Plastic Zone. Principal of Ordnance Army Pre-Primary School, Surnussi Vandana Nair while addressing said that the aim of the effort is two pronged firstly to inculcate the habit of cleanliness in the tiny tots and on the other hand make an appeal to the residents to keep the area clean.
223 ABOD on its part Complimented the effort by placing large garbage bins all along the GT Road to ensure effective disposal of the garbage. Clean up Maqsudan is the first in its type effort, were all stake holders have joined hands for a noble cause. Many more such efforts will be required to clean up the various part of the city. However we will have to wait and see the impact of the endorsed theme- ‘Our Place-Our Planet-Our Responsibility.
