“ECTOPIA-2014” begins at DMCH

The two-day annual cultural event ‘Ectopia-2014’ begins on Tuesday at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, March 18, 2014: As a part of golden jubilee celebration, two-day annual cultural event ‘Ectopia-2014’ begins on Tuesday in Dumra Auditorium, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana. The function was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta along with Principal Dr Daljit Singh, Vice Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Additional Medical Supdt. Dr Sandeep Sharma, Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal and members of DMCH Cultural Committee.   During the festival, undergraduate medical students will take part in various talent hunt competitions.
In his address, Chairperson of DMCH Cultural Committee Dr Sandeep Puri remarked that we are looking forward to this event in a big way because of fifty glorious years of the institution. Such programmes provide bigger platform for DMCH students to make a significant mark towards a positive progress in their careers and lives. He further said that such annual cultural festival help the students in providing them suitable platform to showcase their creative and artistic talents and an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate themselves them from their hectic academic routine. The events during ‘ECTOPIA-2014’ will be held in the morning from 9 am to 2 pm and in the evening from 6:30 pm onwards. The theme of “Ectopia-2014” is ‘AURARIUS GLORIA’ which means Golden Glory and over the years, the annual cultural extravaganza has gained lot of popularity among students as well as the faculty.
Principal Dr.Daljit Singh said that cultural activities form an integral part of leisure and recreation. Active participation by the students in such cultural activities help in enhancing the overall development of their personality and provide an apt opportunity to exhibit their special talents and cherishing those everlasting memories, said Dr Daljit Singh
The first day of ‘Ectopia-2014’ witnessed competitions in Turn Coat Extempore, Spontaneous Dance (Chance Pe Dance), Debate. Quiz and Just A Minute, where participants had to talk for sixty seconds on usage of social media sites including facebook and twitter, "without repetition or hesitation . The students were seen fully enthusiastic about the event and came up with vibrant ideas based on the theme. The highlight of ‘Debate' segment was discussion whether betting in cricket should be legalized or not..The participants enthralled the audience with their scintillating dance performances on various Bollywood numbers and Punjabi Pop music in ‘Chance Pe Dance’
Karoke, Duet Dance, solo dance, Choregoraphy, Rock Band Performances will be held today evening.
Besides, Solo songs, Group song, Antakshri, Ad Fads and Skit including Love letter writing, Duet Shows ,Fashion Show ,Group Dance followed by Prize Distribution function will be held on concluding day of the cultural festival.

In the Quiz segment, five teams participated out of which team of batch 2009 stood first, 2013 was second and 2012 secured third position.
