Installation ceremony of Optical Coherence Tomography at CMC, Ludhiana on Friday.
Ludhiana, March 14, 2014: The Chairman of the Governing Board of the CMC Ludhiana Society, Dr. Rajendar Gyani, along with the Director, Dr. Abraham G. Thomas dedicated the OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography, Nidek RS 3000 Lite) as an up-gradation of equipment in the Department of Ophthalmology, CMC Ludhiana.
The OCT is a machine which captures micrometer resolution, three-dimensional images from within the eye, specifically the retina. It helps the ophthalmologist visualize a cut section of the retina which shows in fine detail any pathology on the retina such as minimal Macular edema not visible by normal visualizing techniques, traction on the retina and evaluation of the disc and nerve fibre layers in glaucoma. This equipment will help strengthen both the medical retina facilities and the Glaucoma services being provided by the Department of Ophthalmology.
Giving More information Dr.Nitin Batra, Head Eye Department, CMC said “The Department also got an Optical Biometer. This machine provides precise ocular measurements, not only for axial lengths but also other parameters that are helpful in cataract and refractive surgeries.”
