Chandigarh, November 20, 2013: The delay in the payment for the procurement of paddy to the Farmers and Middle man (Arthia) was due to the want of essential financial approval by the union Government.
Disclosing this here today D S Grewal, Secretary, food and civil supplies Department, Punjab said that the in spite of this the Punjab government got the desired approval from the Reserve Bank of India and payment to the Farmers and middle man (Arthia) was made within 24 hours through “Kissan arthia information & remittance online network”. He said that the repeated efforts of the Punjab Government borne fruit when the union government was forced to give sanction to release payment on 19 November, 2013.
He said that all the concerned banks have been requested to make the payments by today evening.
