Nawanshahr News/DC directs drainage department to prepare estimates for strengthening work of Dhussi Bandh

Deputy Commissioner, Anindita Mitra accompanied by the officials of the drainage department visits the 57 km. long stretch of Dhussi Bandh from village Rail Mazara to Burj Tehal Dass along river Sutlej falling in the Nawanshahr district on Friday.

Nawanshahr, November 15, 2013: Deputy Commissioner, Anindita Mitra accompanied by the officials of the drainage department - B.K. Gupta, executive Engineer, Hoshiarpur Division, Parbodh Chander, Executive Engineer, Phagwara division, SDO(Drainage) Kirandeep kaur, Balachaur Tehsildar, Gurcharan singh Brar, Naib tehsildar, Sanjay Sharma, visited the 57 km. long stretch of Dhussi Bandh from village Rail Mazara to Burj Tehal Dass along river Sutlej falling in the district here today.

The Deputy Commissioner took stock of the condition of the Dhussi Bandh, identified the damaged and sensitive sites at Bela Tajowal, dugri, Auliapur, Dhangerpur, Malikpur, Tajowal Mandhala and Burj Tehal Dass complexes and asked the officials of the drainage department to prepare estimates for carrying out works for strengthening of the Dhussi Bandh.

During the visit, Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the villagers and heard their grievances. At village Auliapur, the residents demanded strengthening of eroded Dhussi Bandh in the recent past and construction of pucca road along Dhussi Bandh.

At village Malikpur, the residents urged the Deputy Commissioner to restore power supply by issuing directions to the POWERCOM officials to erect the damaged electricity poles at the panchayat land. The DC directed the drainage officials to undertake the strengthening of Dhussi Bandh at Tajowal Mandhala complex under MGNREGA scheme.
