RAIL traffic hit due to protest by Railway NRMU

Ludhiana, June 28, 2013: Several trains were delayed on Friday due to the protest by activists of the Northern Railway Men's Union (NRMU).

Activists had sit on the dharna on the rail track near the Jagraon bridge here today, resulting to which the rail traffic on this track was interrupted for about 90 minutes. The protest had started at around 12.15 pm.

As a result of the protest, passengers had to suffer badly.

Protestors were carrying NRMU flags in their hands and shouting slogans in support of their demands. The trains that got delayed included 19771 Jaipur-Amritsar Express, 12920 Jammu Tawi-Indore Malwa Express and 12497 New Delhi-Amritsar Shane-Punjab Express. Besides, two passenger trains (Ludhiana- Ferozepur) and one passenger train (Ludhiana- Hisar) were also delayed.

Addressing the protestors, the Union leaders alleged senior officials of the Carriage and Wagon Section of the Railways for alleged violation of rules in deploying technical staff as peons. They also sought forthwith filling of all vacant posts in the section concerned.
