VIGILANCE nabs Junior Engineer in bribery case at Ludhiana

Chandigarh, June 28, 2013: State Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing drive against rampant corruption nabbed Junior Engineer Powercom red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 in a corruption case.

Disclosing this here today, Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said the Bureau has caught Randhir Singh, Junior Engineer Powercom posted at Sub-Division Pohir district Ludhiana, demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant Iqbal Singh of village Lohgarh, district Ludhiana. He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that JE was demanding a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to install power connection at his workshop at village Dhurkot (Ludhiana). After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by Sandip Goyal, SP, EOW Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana laid a trap and the accused was nabbed red handed in the presence of two government officials as witnesses.

The tainted money was recovered from him. In this regard a vigilance case u/s 7, 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station at Ludhiana.

Further investigation is under progress.
