Ludhiana, June 27, 2013: 7thbiannual District Conference of BSNL Employees Union Ludhiana begins here today with paying homage to the departed leaders M.K. Pande Veteran Communist leader President CITU, Jagjit Singh Laylpuri, Satpal Dang Veteran Communist Leader, Vidya Charan Shukal, Former Union minister who died in Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.
Homage was also paid to the leaders and workers of working class movements and others who left during the period. The deaths of thousands of innocent pilgrims who died during the floods and landslides in Kedarnath, Hemkunt Sahib and other parts of Uttarakhand were also condoled.
The conference was presided over by Paramjit Singh District President.
A very lively debate took place on the biannual report submitted by District Secretary. Report was unanimously adopted after certain additions/amendments.
Open session was addressed by Senior General Manager Telecom C.S. Bhanot. He called upon all the employees of BSNL to come forward to improve the services of BSNL. He added Ludhiana BSNL has earned a revenue of Rs 119 crores in financial year 2012-13 and the expenditure has come down to 78%. Hence Ludhiana has earned operational profit in this financial year. He appreciated the entire work force of Ludhiana BSNL for this achievement.
Vice-President CITU Punjab Jatinder Pal Singh appreciated the strugglers of BSNL Employees Union against the policies of UPA Government under the dictates of multinational companies and Indian big corporate. While greeting the conference he called upon the BSNL workers to come forward to save the public sector saving BSNL from disinvestment and privatisation.
Balbir Singh Circle Secretary BSNL Employees Union while addressing the open session told that Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations has requested the CMD BSNL to deduct one day salary from the pay of executive and non-executive for Prime Minister relief-fund. He further told that this deducted amount will be around Rs. 50 crores. He further said the forum of BNSL Unions/Associations has given clarion call to improve the financial position of BSNL and its services.
S. P. Singh Circle Secretary NFTBE and Pritam Chand District Secretary NFTBE also addressed the open session.
