Chandigarh, June 25, 2013: Strike called by certain section of employees of 108 was called off yesterday, following which a meeting was held today at Amritsar, present in the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Amritsar, Laxmi Kanta Chawla and representatives of employee union and management representatives of the company Ziqitza Health Care.
Meeting resulted into the agreement on certain points between all the parties involved. The points enumerated and settled upon were as under:
Whereas the union representatives claimed of being paid low and doing duty for 12 hours , it was refuted as the company Ziqitza Health Care Ltd (ZHL) confirms that they are in full compliance with both the Motor Transport Workers Act 1961 and the Minimum Wages as notified Act in the State of Punjab and regularly paying the PF & ESI dues to eligible.
In addition to this Company has agreed to undertake the vaccination drive of the duty staff, where and when required.
However regarding the re-joining of the people who were terminated by the HR Disciplinary Committee of the company earlier this year, it was made clear that they will not be absorbed under any circumstances. As the action taken by the company was backed by enough of investigations and valid proofs. Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, however, has asked for a review alongwith ALC and Laxmi Kanta Chawla , which will be undertaken .
Further, it was also communicated to the representatives of the Union and District Administration that all the employees who proceeded on strike yesterday without a notice and a valid reason will have to submit a written undertaking of not repeating such action again before joining duty.
“We hope that with the amicable solution of the problem, the unhindered service of the emergency ambulance service 108 will resume providing succor and timely help to the people of Punjab”, the company release said.
