Ferozepur, June 14, 2013: A deputation of commuters on Ferozeur-Fazilka rail line, represented by Jimmy Manchanda, gone to the office of Divisional Rail Manager to apprise him about the problems being faced by the passengers, had to return empty handed as DRM did not call them for meeting despite the fact that prior appointment was obtained.
Giving this information, Jimmy Manchanda, Dev Manchanda, Honey Gureja and Tarun said, “We have obtained prior appointment from the DRM and the deputation was in his office during the visiting hours from 3 PM to 4 PM on Thursday but they were not called by him.”
They further said that in case the DRM was busy in some other important work, he could have deputed some other senior officer to listen to the problems of the deputation.
Talking about the problem being faced, they said, “The three coaches on Ferozepur-Fazilka route with DMU train are not sufficient enough to cope with the rush on this route which used to be six coaches. Four coaches have been diverted to Hoshiarpur route on the new route. When the railway authorities are not having sufficient coaches, it is not understood as to why the new routes are introduced to put convenience to the passengers on the old routes. Since the commuters have to attend to their duties, there have no option to board the train on the roofs of the train and in this scorching heat, it is difficult to travel in the crowded coaches.”
Giving a warning to the railway administration, the commuters said, in case there is no solution to this problem, they will intensify the agitation.
While talking to the senior officials of the railways, he said, DRM was busy in some important meeting with the officers at headquarters at Delhi. So far as the problem of commuters is concerned, it is already in the knowledge of the Railways and the matter has already been taken up with the concerned authorities and the problem is likely to be solved shortly.
